Basic Info
Name:Ibu Shinji
Birthdate:1990-11-03
Location:Tokyo, Japan
Bio
Name: Ibu Shinji
Age: 16
Affiliation: Independent (But looking for a place to find answers)

History: Shinji grew up in a mutant fearing household. His father, in particular, constantly warned Shinji and his two younger sisters, Nanami and Misaki, of the constant danger mutants represented to everyone around them. Entire days would be spent indoors, watching from his bedroom window as his father would point out neighbors and passers-by who were "unusual" and "probably mutants." Shinji eventually grew a deep seated fear for these monsters that were going to destroy his world.

Shinji was always close to his father, being the only son. Shinji thrived on his father's praise and tried his best never to let him down. The only time he could remember his father being upset wit him was that time when Shinji had gone to a friend's birthday party. The friend's older sister was a mutant who entertained the crowd of young boys by juggling small fireballs. When Shinji's father returned to pick him up, he saw the mutant showing one of the boys contact juggling with a fireball. Shinji's father forced him into the car and drove home in a stony silence. That night, Shinji got the longest speech about the danger of mutants that he could remember. Even after e had gone to bed, Shinji could hear his father yelling downstairs to his mother about the "disgusting mutant" at the party and how his children would have no part in that world.

"I don't want my children going to school with those freaks." After hearing phrases like this coming out of his father's mouth, there's little surprise that Shinji and his sisters attended a school, that was known to exclude mutant students and faculty. Almost as well known for its "no mutant" policy is the mutant protests the policy attracted. As such, it was fairly commonplace to find a group of mutants and mutant sympathizers outside the main entrance of the school on any given day. One day, like many other days, the protest group had a mutant demonstrating his control over his powers. Objects around him were floating in mid-air, a few signs reading "EQUAL EDUCATION NOW" and "MUTANTS AREN'T THE PROBLEM". Shinji tried pushing his way out of the crowd, but it was no use. On every side, supporters were crowding closer, watching the telekinetic spectacle.

Finally, when Shinji had been pushed almost to the front of the crowd, the mutant raised his hands and the rally quieted. The signs around him fell to the ground as he concentrated on a nearby car. Everyone looked on in fascination as the car lifted off the pavement seemingly by itself. The telekinetic mutant grinned and spoke to the crowd, "Control can be learned by all mutants. There is no reason why humans and mutants cannot attend the same school. This "No Mutant" policy has to end if we are to..." The man trailed off, looking at the car that he was holding in the air. The crowd began to murmur as a slow screeching could be heard coming from the car. Shinji felt the beginnings of a headache come on as the car was crushed by an unseen force. As the organized protest group dissolved into a screaming mob trying to get away from the mutant who just destroyed a car with his mind, Shinji stumbled away, spots filling his vision.

He made his way up to the school and was about to enter when a guard stopped him. No mutants allowed," he growled at Shinji. The young man didn't understand what the guard was talking about. He wasn't a mutant. He tried to push past but the guard shoved him away. "I said no mutants, now beat it!" After trying to explain to the guard that he was a student at the school, the man had enough. "Fine. Let's see what the headmaster has to say," and he dragged Shinji to the headmaster's office.

After reassuring the guard that Shinji did indeed attend the school and sending the man back to his post, the headmaster turned to Shinji and asked about the incident. He had seen what happened from his office and asked why Shinji had started massaging his temples when the car was being crushed. It all looked very peculiar. Shinji denied everything, of course. He was no mutant. After a few minutes, the headmaster nodded and allowed Shinji to go to class.

Shinji doesn't know he is a mutant himself, but the incident outside his school has caused him to wonder about himself. He doesn't feel evil or destructive, so he couldn't possibly be a mutant. Still, there were many people who seemed to think he was after what happened at school.

Powers: Shinji emits an invisible aura around himself in about a 6 foot radius. This aura is blocked by a complete, solid barrier, such as a wall, though if there are gaps the aura will leak through. Normal humans passing through this aura are unaffected, but mutants within it have their mutations amplified. The effect is not immediate, taking a few minutes of constant exposure to reach the point where the mutation is noticeably beyond normal limitations. Once a mutant leaves his aura, the effects will diminish very rapidly, usually returning to normal levels in less than a minute.

This power is not able to "burn out" a mutation currently, even as untrained as Shinji is. To do so would require a concentrated effort to channel the aura into a mutant, which is far beyond what he is capable of right now.

Shinji can't control this aura yet, as he does not know it exists. After he is made aware of it and is able to get it under control, he will be able to increase or decrease the size of the aura. Perhaps over time he will be able to control it to the point where he can boost one mutant's powers and not another's
